I am using push-pull configuration like on the figure below. For instance, if every bias resistance is one-kilo ohm and if complementary transistor in a push-pull amplifier shows an ac of fifty and resistance of the load is eight ohms. I am designing a power supply with input voltage of 3,1V and the output voltage of 175V (10mA max). According to previous amplifier output resistance, the less push-pull input resistance can load it harshly and highly decrease the voltage gain.

The amp will have a decent amount of preamp gain/distortion I would most likely pair it with a Vintage 30 or a Warehouse 25W Green Beret, because I already have them.ĭifference would probably be subtle as I am not likely to get the amp up to full power often, but I would be interested in opinions/advice. 0 Comments Every one, I am an automation engineer, not an electrical, but I have some knowledge about electricity (I hope).

Depending on the tranny design there may be 2,000 turns of wire in the Primary and 90 turns for the Secondary winding. 300VAC + 300VAC 600V AC is across the primary winding. I expect to use the Hammond 270EX PT, so my preference is to use a Hammond OT to purchase from the same distributor. The amplified audio from the 2 output valves, push pull is in opposite phase 180deg.

Note: DCR of windings is the result of the design and cannot be determined prior to building. We cannot replicate classic output transformers to exact specifications, only come close.

Silver wire windings available at current market prices. I want to purchase the transformers now because I want to get a choke to play with a modification that I am doing with one of my old kit amps and I figure consolidating the orders may save on a little shipping cost.Ĭlassic Tone 40-18045 15W 8.5k (4, 8 ohm)Ĭlassic Tone 40-18090 20W 8k (4, 8, 16 ohm)Ĭlassic Tone 40-18038 20W 6.6k (4, 8 ohm) All push-pull designs will exceed 20 to 20 kHz -1db bandwidth. I would benefit from some opinions/advice on selection of an OT for another amp I will eventually build with a pretty straight forward 6V6 push-pull power section.
